Wildcats Welcome Lance Ware as Transfer

Men's Basketball 6/8/2023 12:00:00 PM

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Lance Ware, a 6-9 Camden, N.J., native who spent three seasons at the University of Kentucky, has completed the process to transfer to Villanova ahead of the 2023-24 academic year.

"Lance brings us a very valuable skill set with his length, athleticism, and experience," stated Villanova Head Coach Kyle Neptune. "Beyond that, he's been a leader on and off the court for the outstanding teams he has played with. We're so excited to bring him back to this area, not far from where he grew up in New Jersey. Lance will be an important addition to our frontcourt."

Ware helped lead Camden High School to a 29-1 record as a senior, averaging 11.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game as a senior. He appeared in the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic before heading off to Kentucky in 2020, where he saw action in 77 games over his three seasons.

In 2022-23, he appeared in 28 games, drawing six starting assignments. He averaged 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest for UK's Wildcats.

Ware joins previously announced TJ Bamba and Hakim Hart as incoming transfers set to be part of the 2023-24 Villanova Wildcats.
