PCT Hangtag Project

PCT hangtags are distributed to long-distance hikers and horseback riders as a keepsake and a way to encourage people to be personally engaged in protecting the trail and fragile places the trail passes through.

Hangtags are available in-person at a small number of locations. To get one, you’ll be asked to show your PCT Long-distance Permit and talk with a public lands steward about how you can travel lightly on the land. They are one per-person, are not mailed, and there's a limited supply. We love that they are popular and understand that we’re not reaching everyone who wants one. We are looking to add more distribution locations, whether they are agency offices or backcountry patrols and will update our website when things change.

In 2023, PCT hangtags will be available from:

In the meantime, you can learn more about Leave No Trace and safety on the PCT right on our website.
