Lynden resident named to Trinity Christian Dean's List

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — In recognition of outstanding academic achievement, Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, Illinois, has named Lynden resident Elijah DenBleyker to the college's Dean's List for spring 2023.

Trinity Christian's Dean's List recognizes its traditional undergraduate students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or better in 12 or more credits with grade points.

Lynden resident earns Dean's List recognition at Utah Tech

ST. GEORGE, Utah — For the Spring 2023 semester, nearly 12% of Utah Tech University students have earned Dean's List recognition.

Specifically, 1,240 students were included on the Dean's List. Inclusion indicates students’ strong commitment to their academic pursuits, as they must achieve a GPA of 3.5 to 3.89 for the Dean's List.

Students are also required to complete a minimum of 15 credits.

Lynden resident Taylor Reams was one of the 1,240 students.

Lynden/Everson Subzone Committee meeting

LYNDEN — The Lynden/Everson Subzone Committee will meet at 10 a.m. May 31 at Lynden City Hall, 300 4th St.

Topics of discussion for the May 31 meeting include:

• Approval of Minutes for Sept. 8, 2022, meeting

• Election of officers

• 2022 expenditures report and 2023 projected

• Subzone funding mechanism discussion

• Upcoming 2023 capital projects and maintenance needs

• Comprehensive plan (FLIP) update – flow split reach

• Hazard mitigation funding (buy out/elevations) update.

Local students, community members recognized at WASA awards

BURLINGTON — During the May 11 Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Region 108 2023 awards banquet, students and community members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to their school community.

WASA Region 108 encompasses school districts in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties. Each district is eligible for a community leadership and student leadership award. The community leadership award recognizes an individual who demonstrates leadership and a dedication to support the success of all students through work closely with their local school district.

The student leadership award is granted to student leaders who have played a significant leadership role in initiatives or programs that promote inclusivity, access, equity, or social justice in their school and community.

Students were recognized for their leadership presence in clubs, cultural event planning, volunteerism and community service.

Community Leadership awards are presented to community members who contribute to student achievement in their communities.

Each year, WASA Region 108 grants one WASA Regional Award.
