Preppy Pickle custom embroidery shop relocates to 2741 W. Eighth St.
It’s a new beginning for one Millcreek custom embroidery shop.
The Preppy Pickle has packed up and moved from its former location in the Colony Plaza at 2662 W. Eighth St., to a smaller venue just down the road at 2741 W. Eighth St.
“I love it,” said Christine Meyers, owner of The Preppy Pickle. “We’re not far off from where we were which is really nice. As long as I can communicate with people where we are, I think we’ll be okay. We’re still in the mix of things, but tucked away a little bit.”
For Meyers, this move made a lot of sense and saved her some expenses.
“I wanted to streamline the business to make it more customer affective,” Meyers said.
The new Preppy Pickle is not that far away from their former location. The business began the move on Oct. 25 and is still in the unpacking process, yet they are now open and ready for orders.

Preppy Pickle employee Darlene Cohen helped to find the new location that could not only cut rent in half but help it focus more on the customization aspect of their business.
“It was all Cohen,” Meyers said. “She found it and called a relator to get involved and everything just fell into place.”
Meyers and Cohen were able to rent the new space for $650 per month, which includes utilities. Meyers said that this cut her rent in half compared to the former location.
One issue with the Colony Plaza location Meyers saw was that many customers enjoyed window shopping where they could buy items off the shelves. That was not the case for the Preppy Pickle.
“We weren’t really selling items off our shelves, we’re more focused on the customization of what we do,” Meyers said. "Shoppers would come in from Pittsburgh or Ohio for the day. It wasn’t meeting our needs.”
Not only is the new location saving the Preppy Pickle money, it is also saving them time.
“It makes it easy because we’re not having to deal with people who are just walking in; we can focus on the people who do take the time and bring their business to us,” Meyers said. “We can get their orders done faster.”
The business is now open and accepting orders at their new location. The former location at the Colony Plaza next to Great Lakes Popcorn and Colony Pizza is available for rent.
