Man Utd takeover LIVE: Glazer talks with PSG chief over Sheikh Jassim, Kim transfer blow, Amrabat latest

The deadline for Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's fifth and final bid to buy Manchester United has passed, yet the Qatari banker could still beat Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the race to replace the Glazers

The Manchester United takeover saga is approaching its eighth month, but the twists and turns aren't stopping.

After Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani gave the Glazers an ultimatum by lodging a fifth and final bid in the hope of beating Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it emerged that he wouldn't be withdrawing the offer after Friday's deadline and will still be involved in the process. That same day, reports claimed that Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, a fellow Qatari, has even been in contact with the Glazer family during tedious negotiations.

Meanwhile, Ratcliffe's camp - the INEOS sporting division - remain confident over a deal as United manager Erik ten Hag works hard to make a strong start to the summer transfer window. It's understood that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has already agreed personal terms over a move, while Ten Hag's top target, Harry Kane, won't be so easy to prise away from Tottenham.

Stay tuned throughout Saturday as we bring you the latest news from Old Trafford...

Paris Saint-Germain will rival Manchester United in the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer as they plan a new attacking partner for Kylian Mbappe.

United's prime target is Napoli striker Osimhen and he heads the club's striking shortlist. Red Devils scouts attended Napoli's Champions League clash against Milan in April and have been planning a move for the Nigerian since last summer.

Osimhen spoke in March that it would be his "dream" to play in the Premier League as links with him moving to Old Trafford intensified. United have subsequently sent scouts to monitor the striker's play. He spearheaded Napoli's remarkable Serie A title, netting 31 goals across all competitions.

Feyenoord captain Orkun Kokcu is set to join Portuguese champions Benfica after Wesley Sneijder urged the midfielder to reject a transfer to Manchester United.

The 22-year-old captained Feyenoord to their stunning Eredivisie title success this campaign and was widely linked with a transfer this summer. The player's father had fielded numerous enquiries for the Rotterdam club's star man.

There was transfer interest from United in the energetic midfielder who progressed through Feyenoord's youth system and accumulated 175 appearances for the club. He played a huge role in the club's success this campaign, netting 12 goals despite often playing from a deep position.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi played a role in Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's proposed bid to buy Manchester United amid talks to buy clubs in Spain and Brazil.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is tipped to be the favourite with his strategy of buying United but INEOS chief Ratcliffe is one of the two frontrunners to buy the club along with Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim.

The pair recently submitted their third and final bids, with Sheikh Jassim proposing a complete buyout and Ratcliffe making an offer to take a controlling interest in the club and allow Joel and Avram Glazer to temporarily retain a 20% stake in United.

LA Galaxy have confirmed that club captain Javier Hernandez has suffered a serious knee injury.

Hernandez suffered the injury playing for Galaxy against Real Salt Lake in the US Open Cup on Wednesday. Galaxy - four-time MLS Cup winner - lost the game 3-2 to exit the competition at the quarter-final stage.

The 35-year-old suffered the injury midway through the first half of the contest with the score 1-0 to Salt Lake at the time. As Hernandez took control of the ball on the edge of the penalty area, he collapsed to the floor with no contact from an opposition player and was in clear distress.

Simon Jordan believes Mason Greenwood should be sent out on loan next season.

The Manchester United forward has not played for the club since January 2022, after starting their 1-0 win over West Ham. Later that month, Greenwood was accused of assault against a woman. But in February of this year, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all criminal charges against him, including attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have played a significant role in Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's proposed bid to buy Manchester United.

The Qatari billionaire has been one of the main frontrunners to complete a takeover at Old Trafford since the Glazers confirmed their intent to sell back in January. He has lodged a succession of bids to push through a deal but faces tough competition from INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

However, according to The Athletic, as part of his offer to buy United, Jassim's team initially consulted Al-Khelaifi for advice on United's valuation, after the Glazers wanted £6.4billion for the club. Jassim lodged a fifth and final offer for United earlier this week, which will remain on the table even after Friday's deadline.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has decided that his final bid for Manchester United will remain on the table even if the Glazers miss Friday's deadline.

The Qatari billionaire has been one of the main frontrunners to complete a takeover at Old Trafford since the club's current owners confirmed their intent to sell back in January. He has lodged a succession of bids to push through a deal but faces tough competition from INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

As it stands, neither have been named as preferred bidders by the facilitators of any sale, the Raine Group. Sheikh Jassim made one final play to push himself to the front of the queue earlier this week.

Former Manchester United player Phil Neville wasn't out of football long after being sacked by Inter Miami.

The 46-year-old is joining the Canadian national team as part of John Herdman's coaching staff.

Neville was dismissed by long-time friend and Inter Miami owner, David Beckham, following a dismal start to the MLS season, which saw the Sunshine State-based team win just five games from 16, leaving them bottom of the Eastern Conference. Read the full story here

The Manchester United Twitter account has been asking fans to vote for their player of the month for May this week. And we have a winner......

Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus says he is looking to buy a different football club as it 'no longer makes sense' to try and purchase Manchester United.

United have been up for sale for over six months now and the saga continues to drag on, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani the two frontrunners. Ratcliffe is said to have tabled a bid for a majority stake in the club worth around £5 billion, while Sheikh Jassim made a fifth and final offer earlier this week for full ownership.

Taking to Twitter, Zilliacus revealed he is no longer looking to buy United due to the Glazers' asking price. "XXI Century Football Capital believes the price of Manchester United has reached levels where investments no longer make sense," he tweeted. "We therefore have turned our attention to other clubs."

Victor Lindelof has been denied a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt after Erik ten Hag made it clear that he wants to keep him at Manchester United.

Lindelof, 28, emerged as a key player under Ten Hag in the latter stages of the season, deputising at centre-back after Lisandro Martinez suffered a serious metatarsal injury in April. In case you missed it, Manchester United have added another assignment to their pre-season schedule.

The Red Devils will take on Spanish side Athletic Club in Dublin on Sunday August 6, a week before the start of the Premier League season.

They are also set to play Leeds, Lyon, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund throughout pre-season.

Previously linked with a takeover at Old Trafford, Thomas Zilliacus has (once again) confirmed that he has pulled out of the process.

He tweeted: "XXI Century Football Capital focuses on football investments. We know how to make clubs successful and profitable and how to make fans happy. We focus on big clubs with a large fan base. We are profit oriented as only profitable clubs are successful in the long run.

"XXI Century Football Capital believes the price of Manchester United has reached levels where investments no longer make sense. We therefore have turned our attention to other clubs."

Despite the self-imposed deadline for Sheikh Jassim's bid, it appears that the offer will remain on the table for the foreseeable future.

According to The Guardian, the Qatari will not fully walk away even if he doesn't hear back. His offer, that is reportedly below the Glazers' £6bn asking price, will remain live beyond today.

Sheikh Jassim will only have to wait a little while longer to find out if his final bid for Man United is successful.

According to Proactive, the Qatari billionaire will be told if his offer is accepted by the end of play today.

Should he not be then it is reported that he will stop engaging with the process.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has hailed Erik ten Hag for his influence on the side during his first 12 months at Old Trafford.

Talking to the Red Devils' official website, he said: "Obviously, the transition in terms of his style is very, very different to some other coaches, but, as I say, that's football. He's always having you thinking, and having you think about new ideas and stuff like that.

"It's good, that's the best way to be with football: open-minded and going into every game, if he asks you to do something, you do it to the best of your abilities and you try to learn it as best as you can. I think, for me, it's great. I love it."

Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has praised Bruno Fernandes for driving standards in training after revealing that the Portuguese midfielder requested extra finishing drills.

Fernandes, 28, quickly established himself as one of United's most influential players after joining the club back in January 2020 and enjoyed a standout season under Erik ten Hag, often donning the captain's armband in the absence of Harry Maguire.

Former RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has moved to Bayern Munich on a free transfer. He has signed a four-year deal.

He was previously linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is looking to strike back against Liverpool in the transfer market after missing out on Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister.

Back in January, the Daily Mail reported that Klopp had attended a meeting with Sofyan Amrabat's representatives with a view to a transfer, but failed to get a deal done. And Ten Hag, who worked with the player at Utrecht when he was coming through the ranks, is now keen to be reunited with him at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils looked to be edging towards a move for the South Korean defender with the Italian side resigned to losing him. He looks likely to still be on the move but Eddie Howe is looking to make a late play for his services.

That is according to talkSPORT, who suggest that Newcastle are keen to bolster their defence this summer and could pay Kim's release clause.

Manchester United are set to be impacted by VAR and offside decisions in the Premier League.

Four extra offside cameras are set to be used at every game in the Premier League next season in an effort to overcome the problem of a ‘blind spot’ in the current technology.

However, the semi-automated system that was used with great success at the World Cup will not be seen.
