FC Barcelona has contacted the camp of Bayern Munich star and Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies to sound out a potential free transfer in 2025 according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

Since the turn of this year, the Canadian has been strongly linked to the Catalans' rivals in the Spanish capital, who MARCA said would make a move for him ahead of schedule in the summer transfer window.

Ultimately, however, the Bavarians' refusal to negotiate a cut fee for a player then approaching the last 12 months of his contract meant that a switch ahead of the ongoing season didn't come off, with Los Blancos instead settling for two attacking signings in Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.

Reports still circulate about Madrid looking ahead to June 30, 2025, and signing two individuals widely regarded to be among the best in the world in their respective positions in left back Davies and right back Trent Alexander Arnold.

In a similar fashion, Liverpool legend Alexander Arnold becomes a free agent on said date with MARCA explaining this week that the Reds are beginning to think he won't renew with them.

Meanwhile in Barcelona, Sporting Director Deco has reportedly reached out to Davies' camp to see what the 23-year-old plans to do as per his next club.

Barca is aware that it won't be easy to pull off the potential transfer even in lieu of a fee to Bayern. Deco knows Davies wants more than $10.8 million (€10 million) for a signing fee and then something surpassing $21.7 million (€20 million) per year in terms of salary, which won't be easy funds to raise for a club still battling financial issues.

Factors that swing in Barca's favour compared to Madrid, when it comes down to trying to land Davies, are the fact that it currently boasts ex-Bayern boss Hansi Flick as head coach.

Flick of course had Davies as a starting player in the treble-winning campaign of 2019/2020 at the Allianz Arena, and you'd think that the Canada captain might be interested in the prospect of working with the tactician again while attempting to recreate their past glories together in a different setting.
